At Lakewinds Global (Philadelphia, PA) we have built a successful company around the idea that the more you invest in your people, the more prosperous you (and your business) will be. Recently, we traveled to Atlanta, Georgia for a leadership retreat where top executives and business leaders from around the country spent some time together. Assistant Manager Manny Malespin and Account Executive Rachel Yelk were selected to attend. When they got back from their trip we had to catch up with them to hear about their experience!
We found out that the trip was filled with lessons as well as adventures! The first day included some business meetings where attendees got to hear from key speakers on topics such as business development, leadership principles, and entrepreneurship fundamentals. It also gave them an opportunity to get to know other industry professionals from around the country. Once the meetings concluded, the adventures began. Rural Georgia was a prime opportunity for said adventures. Canoeing, hiking, and outdoor team building games were some of the highlights for both Rachel and Manny. Manny added that being able to network with the other attendees and executives was not only informative but a lot of fun in this type of setting. It was laid back, fun, and you were able to really get to know one another on a more personal level. Rachel, who had only been a full-time team member at Lakewinds Global for one month before attending, agreed. For her, being able to meet in person, people that she had only heard of, was awesome. One of those mentors was a successful female executive whom she looks up to in business.
Amongst the memories made in Georgia, Rachel and Manny came home with some lessons learned as well:
